The Rotator Cuff is a complex mix of 4 muscles connected from the shoulder blade to the Humerus. They are the Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, Teres Minor and Subscapularis. They insert in different areas of the scapula on one side, the Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, Teres Minor are on the outer surface, while the Subscapularis joins on the inner surface making it close to the ribs.
They have the extremely important function of providing stability to the arm movements of elevation and rotation. When they are injured, usually by repetitious actions above shoulder level, and painful it can be hard to believe they can recover, but these rotator cuff injuries can be healed with the proper rotator cuff exercises. However the correct rehab can be costly and often time consuming.
For there are exercises that need to be done with persistence but they can bring healing to the injured rotator cuff muscles and their tendons. The correct exercises for the rotator cuff when implemented will speed up the natural healing, will help reduce the internal inflammation and reduce recovery times. Unless, there are gross tears that require surgery, any traumas and tears of these rotator cuff muscles can be restored with the correct rotator cuff treatment and exercises.
So do not rely on medicines that just reduce pain and swelling that just give relief from pain but do not treat the damaged muscles and tendons.
